Mission
We exhibit the love of God in Jesus Christ to others when we are servants. With a spirit of gratitude we glorify God by serving the “least of these” by discovering our spiritual gifts and then contributing our time, talents, and treasures to particular missions and ministries. (Micah 6:8, Matthew 20:26-28, 25:34-40, John 13:34-35, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 1 Peter 4:10)
Go & Serve Trips

Mission trips or Go & Serve trips provide members and friends of Fox Valley Presbyterian Church the opportunity to experience hands-on service and mission for others.
Adults are given the opportunity to participate in a Go & Serve trip at least twice a year. The trips generally are a week-long and locations vary across the United States.
The youth of the church end every program year with a Go & Serve trip.
Serving Others

Members of Fox Valley Presbyterian Church serve the “least of these” in a number of ways. We have established partnerships with a number of organizations that serve a variety of needs, providing both financial resources and many hours of volunteer service. Some of the organizations include
- Habitat for Humanity
- Lazarus House (local homeless shelter)
- Hesed House (local homeless shelter)
- Northern Illinois Foodbank
- The Salvation Army
- Living Waters for the World
- Fox Valley Hospice
- Elgin Mental Health Center
- The Heartland Blood Center
In addition, each September the church holds the Old Fashion Rummage and Bake Sale. More than 85 people help organize and work the sale. Any unsold rummage items and a portion of the proceeds from the sale are donated to various mission agencies and organizations.
Serving the Church
There are many ways that people may use their gifts and talents to serve the ministry and mission of Fox Valley Presbyterian Church. There are a number of committees that do the administrative work of the church. Some of these include Session (governing board), The Board of Deacons, Children’s Ministry Committee, Adult Education Committee, and the Worship Committee.
There are also other groups that help maintain the church, including
- The Gardeners
- The Gardeners enjoy the exchange of gardening ideas and information through meetings and outings and help in the improvement and upkeep of the church’s landscape.
- The Fix-It Group
- The Fix-it Group lends a hand around the church with various maintenance, painting, and light construction chores. Both men and women are welcome to participate.
- Healing Our Planet (HOPE)
- The HOPE task force works to keep the congregation aware of our responsibility to care for God’s creation. The ministry of this task force is committed to restoring our shared, common environment by educating the church and the community and taking personal responsibility through our actions every day.
- The Bread Brigade
- The Bread Brigade is an outgrowth of the Christian Growth and Membership Committee. The Bread Brigade make “screen door visits” to first-time visitors to deliver a personal welcome and a loaf of fresh bread.
